District guide
FCPS parent communication guide
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is one of the largest districts in the country, and it reaches families across several tools at once. Here is a plain guide to how FCPS communicates, and how to keep up without checking five apps.
How FCPS reaches parents
- School and district email: official notices from your school and the district's own addresses.
- Phone and text alerts: urgent notices like closings, delays, and early dismissals, sent through the district's messaging system (you opt in to texts).
- ParentVUE: the parent portal for grades, attendance, and student information.
- Schoology: assignments, class materials, and teacher announcements.
- Talking Points: direct messages from teachers, with built in translation.
The catch: it is a lot of places
Each channel has its own app, login, and notification settings. An early dismissal alert might come by text, a grade update in ParentVUE, an assignment in Schoology, and a teacher note in Talking Points, all in the same busy day. It is not that FCPS sends too little. It is that everything arrives the same way, so the important messages get lost in the routine ones.
How to keep up with all of it
- Opt in to text alerts for closings and delays.
- Set up ParentVUE and turn on grade and attendance notifications.
- Use one place that watches them all. AVVI connects to your school email and texts, recognizes FCPS's senders, and shows you only the ones that matter, so nothing slips through.
Let AVVI catch the ones that matter
AVVI already knows FCPS's senders. Connect once and it shows you only the ones that matter, across ParentVUE, Schoology, Talking Points, and district email. Free for pilot families.
